My Proton Persona 1.6 Manual (M) already reach mileage of more than 150 k. Bought it since 2008. Generally, it is a good car. I enjoy the drive up to Cameron Highlands and down using the Tapah route. You can say it is me who overtake others and not the other way round. The car is very stable on cornering... and I use this to go up Gunung Brinchang, extremely narrow and winding road. You can feel the power when you play with the gears...

Of course... there is also the problem.. but I don't blame Proton as I had kena accident a number of times (well, my own wrong decision).... I have the tak tak tak sound when going through uneven road even at times on even road also.... Also.. the knock sound which is most likely due to the bushing at the rear and my arm I have changed once which is also a wrong decision because there was really nothing wrong with the arm.... but after I changed for no solid good reason.. well... things gets ugly...

As for the air con ventilation sound etc.. well, I too have that problem and I have left it as it is....

There are a number of things that users need to know, you need to regular service your air-con as it the compressor sooner or later will run out of lubricant and when that happens... your compressor would damage....

I bought my Saga 1.3 FL 4 months ago from Jakarta (Indonesia). The mileage is currently 4,000 km. It is a good car for its price and almost had never found any major problem. The only problem was the rear right wheel, it got jammed but has been fixed by lcoal SC and the problem never come back

In Indonesia most of Saga/Persona is used as taxi. Before I bought the car, I interviewed some taxi drivers who drove Saga/Persona. I asked them if there was any problem with the car. They said Saga/Persona is a good car, even after 300,000km (3 years). The only problem is the reliability of Saga's suspension which is very poor and need frequent replacement. And also poor stability when cornering at relatively high speed (80km/h above).

Compare to their Korean counterparts : Kia Rio, Hyundai Avega, & Chevrolet Kalos, Proton still give better value. But due to scepticism of most people the resale value is below the other brand. Very ironic.

Proton cars are very popular with many Malaysian 'cos after more than two decades, they still produce cars with never ending QC problems.

Anything that's really ab-normal, they'll tell you it's normal.
eg. sticky tape & glue are often found on their new cars to hold the bits-n-pieces in place.
When these items become loose and start to vibrate (eventually falling off), they'll tell you that's normal.

Over time, the staffs at SC become so bored about the QC problems that they look like zombies when you ask them to service your problem-ridden new car.

While all these are happening, the top management are probably enjoying their holidays overseas.

If you don't buy their cars, they say you don't support Malaysian made product.
If you buy it, they let you "enjoy" the QC problems while they may be having a good laugh.

its good 2 know there are so many problems arrising from the new persona, will definately look out for the common problems mentioned, but got my person H-line on may 17,so far,the problem im having is:

1. Inside the aircond at d center there is this noise that sounds like something is loose, when u accelerate the noise gets louder, went 2 SC they say they will change the whole thing inside due to the part is faulty. ok? >.>

2. whenever I start my engine there is a whistling noise thats very irritating. ask the technician in SC he say its normal...

3,window at the back of driver seat, whenever I try to wind it up it makes a noise like the window is going 2 drop off, havent complain to SC yet.

4.front brakes is making a sharp screeching noise when braking like the noise we use to hear from old cars when they brake. but if happens sometimes only, but defienately fill complain to SC.

5.remote to oepn the car boot need 2 press 2 times only open, when opening it manually its really hard to open with the key and its feels like ur key is going to break only it can be open.

6. Even though I pump full tank the meter is never at F. havent resolve this yet as i forgot to mention due to other excesive problems. and its seriously NOT fuel saving. full tank can only drive less than 400km
